Established in 1983, Maytham ArtAdvisors LLC is a Fine Arts Appraisal and Client Consulting firm, in Denver, Colorado. Its principal, Thomas N. Maytham, has been a leader in the Art Appraisal and Consultant fields in the Western United States for 27 years, partly due to his unique executive experience as a Curator or Director at three major art Museums.
Maytham was educated at two of the country's finest colleges or universities — first at Williams College, in Williamstown, Massachusetts with a B A in Art History; and then a two-year M A in Art History at Yale University. His first art museum position was as a Curator of European and American Paintings at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts for 11 years. He was then a director of the Seattle Art Museum for 7 years; and finally, Director of the Denver Art Museum for 10 years.
His years as a senior executive at major museums has provided unmatched experience in the Valuation and Art Consulting fields. At Boston, he was a Curator at one of the oldest, largest and finest art museums in America. He was directly responsible and intimately involved in the growth and improvement of the Painting Collections at an already world-celebrated art museum. The same role was achieved at the newer Seattle and Denver Art Museums.
Also, in response to public enthusiasm for major art exhibitions and other museum special programs, the Governors of the State of Washington and the State of Colorado both awarded Tom Maytham with a Governors Arts Award for his contributions to the public in each of their States.
Maytham ArtAdvisors LLC is expert in the national and international art markets for, and financial valuations of, both European and American Fine Arts from the 16th Century to the present. We are experienced in assisting private collectors in adding major art works to their collections. And we have aided Estate Executors, and financial planners, in managing artworks under their clients' care.
